Evidence from 'Treaties, Brexit and the Constitution' research project cited in House of Lords report
Associated people

On 30 April 2019, the House of Lords Constitution Committee published its report on Parliamentary Scrutiny of Treaties.
In November 2018 Jill Barrett (Queen Mary, University of London) Eirik Bjorge (Bristol University) Ewan Smith (University of Oxford) and Arabella Lang (House of Commons Library) gave oral evidence and submitted written evidence to the Committee, and that evidence is cited with approval throughout the report.
The Report cautiously supports the project's key argument that a dedicated Parliamentary Committee is needed to handle treaty business.
Mark Elliot and Stephen Tierney, the legal advisors to the Committee have published a blogpost summarising the Report and some of the issues that it raises.
