Suzanne Chiodo wins Peter Oliver Prize in Canadian Legal History

The 2019 winner of the Peter Oliver Prize in Canadian Legal History awarded by The Osgoode Society for Canadian Legal History is Suzanne Chiodo, a DPhil student and Stipendary Lecturer in Law at Oriel College, for her book 'The Class Actions Controversy: The Origins and Development of the Ontario Class Proceedings Act', published by Irwin Law.

Suzanne said of her award

It's a real honour to receive this award and have my first book recognised in this way. The book is the product not only of my Masters thesis, but also my work as a class actions lawyer in Canada. I'm thankful to my family, colleagues, publisher, and everyone who made it possible.

 

The Osgoode Society for Canadian Legal History will present the award at a special ceremony on  June 19.  The award in recognises contributions made by scholars to furthering Canadians' understanding of the country's legal history.
