JUSTICE support Professor Hodges' proposal on housing dispute resolution

The transformative vision proposed in JUSTICE’s Report on Solving Housing Disputes cites and aligns with Professor Chris Hodges’ proposal for a single portal and integrated pathway for all housing disputes, set out in his wide-ranging review of all main types of disputes in England and Wales, Delivering Dispute Resolution.

Both JUSTICE and Prof. Hodges call for a simplified system that would provide initial information and assistance and encompass a single pathway instead of the current multiple options of courts, Property Tribunal, Ombudsmen and other ADR and mediation routes. Prof. Hodges places his proposals in a wider context of regulatory reform in the housing sector, based on a new regulator, an ethical code, and collection of data to drive standards of behaviour.
