From 1-8 August staff and students at the Centre for Socio-legal Studies are going to be running/walking/hiking/cycling/swimming to raise money for the Oxford Food Bank. This is being done in an effort to help those who live in close proximity to Oxford University and do not enjoy the privileges we enjoy. According to the Oxford Council website:

  • 10 of Oxford's 83 neighbourhood areas are among the 20% most deprived areas in England.
  • After adjusting for housing costs, 29% of children in Oxford live below the poverty line
  • In November 2019 Oxford had 2,040 working-age residents claiming Universal Credit.

Those on low wages or without a wage need support now.  The Oxford Food Bank has been doing an incredible job supporting those in need during this pandemic, but demand for their services only continues to increase.

The members of Oxford’s Centre for Socio-Legal Studies have committed to running, walking, hiking, cycling, and swimming a collective 650km to raise at least £3000 pounds for the Food Bank.  You can sponsor us, contribute to this important cause, and help us reach our goal by donating at our JustGiving page. Any amount at all would be hugely appreciated.  Thank you so much for your support!
