The Sixth NLIU-Justice R. K. Tankha Memorial International Arbitration Moot took place online from 5 – 7 March 2021. 50 teams from 5 countries spent the weekend arbitrating a fictional cross-border commercial dispute over the partial delivery of goods as a result of the lockdown imposed in response to the global pandemic. They were also expected to make submissions on the jurisdiction of the tribunal by examining the law applicable to the arbitration agreement, its extension to a non-signatory party, and the enforceability of a multi-tier dispute resolution procedure.
Mercy Milgo (St Peter’s College), Chaitanya Kediyal (Exeter College), Karolina Kopczynska (Oriel College), and Joseph Khaw (Wadham College) represented the Oxford Law Faculty at the competition. After the preliminary rounds, the team was ranked in the top eight teams and bowed out in a closely fought quarterfinal round. The team was awarded the Best International Team award and Chaitanya Kediyal was adjudged the Best Oralist of the preliminary rounds.
The Mooting Programme congratulates Mercy, Chaitanya, Karolina and Joseph on their brilliant performance!
