Oxford wins the Dublin City University National Moot 2021

The DCU National Moot Court Competition 2021, hosted by Dublin City University, was held virtually on Saturday, 20 November. This is the largest Irish mooting competition and this year was the biggest competition to date, with over 60 teams vying for one of the 16 spots in the oral rounds.

This year’s moot problem concerned the tort of passing off. As this was an Irish moot, students were required to familiarise themselves with Irish law, while also drawing on persuasive authorities from other jurisdictions. Written memorials and pre-recorded oral arguments were submitted to determine who would proceed to the oral rounds. Three teams from Oxford progressed to the oral rounds: Ruth Flame, Oisin Magfhogartaigh, Oliver Clement; Niranjana Ramkumar, James Marshall, Emily Lennon; Rivu Chowdhury, Darren Leow, Giacomo Bognolo.
