Oxford Philosophy, Law, and Politics (PLP) Colloquium Co-ordinator and Personal Assistant

Grade 5: £28,759 -£33,966 per annum

The Faculty of Law seeks to appoint a Co-ordinator for the Oxford Philosophy, Law, and Politics (‘PLP’) Colloquium, and PA to Professor Ruth Chang.  The postholder will work under Ruth Chang’s overall direction to co-ordinate all administrative aspects of the Oxford Philosophy, Law, and Politics (OPLP) Colloquium, although their HR line manager will be a member of the administrative team in the Law Faculty.  The postholder will also provide personal administrative assistance to Professor Chang in the form of diary-keeping, receipt management, email organisation, and general management duties. The hours of work will be variable according to the requirements of the Colloquium, and will be agreed between the Co-ordinator and Professor Chang in advance.

The postholder will liaise with Law Faculty administrative colleagues to provide effective support to Professor Chang under the following broad areas: co-ordinate the administrative requirements of the PLP Colloquium, particularly event organisation; assist Professor Ruth Chang in identifying priority items of researching, teaching, and convening business, monitoring budgets and reporting and undertake any necessary Faculty training; comply with university finance and HR processes; and engage with Faculty and University staff as required.

The successful candidate should hold a first degree, or equivalent professional qualification; flexible, with strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and see tasks through to their conclusion; previous experience in academic and/or events administration including diary management and managing the office of a senior member of staff;  excellent communication skills, including the ability to produce high quality, accurate, independent written and organizational work with minimal supervision. Familiarity with the IT and web-based platforms necessary to support all aspects of the role, and a willingness to undertake training and experience of managing a social media account is desirable.

This is a fixed term, variable hours post until 1 July 2030.  Payment will be made monthly on submission of timesheets.
