Anne Lansink

Biography

Anne Lansink is Postdoctoral Researcher at the Utrecht University Institute of Jurisprudence, Constitutional and Administrative Law and at the Utrecht Centre for Water, Oceans and Sustainability Law. She participates in the ECOAMARE and Future FRM Tech research projects, which look at the expansion of offshore wind energy in the North Sea and the improvement of flood risk management mechanisms, respectively.


Anne holds an MJur, MPhil and DPhil from Oxford University. She also holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Law Extra honours degree from Radboud University in the Netherlands. Her DPhil thesis was on The Potential of the Concept of Dignity for EU and UK Animal Protection Law and was supervised by Professors Jonathan Herring and Charles Foster. For her studies at Oxford, Anne was awarded various scholarships, including by the University of Oxford, the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), the Prins Bernhard Cultuurfonds, and Radboud University. She co-founded and convened the Oxford Animal Law Discussion Group, served as Associate Editor of the Oxford University Commonwealth Law Journal, volunteered for Oxford Pro Bono Publico, provided research assistance to Professor Miles Jackson, and gained practical experience at various Dutch courts. Anne’s core expertise is in animal law, nature conservation law, energy law, and water management. During her visiting fellowship, Anne will be writing a paper on the legal position of animals during natural disasters, with a focus on flooding.
