Biography
Bianca is a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Law candidate at the University of Oxford, supervised by Professor Philippa Webb. Bianca's research focuses on international courts and tribunals and international dispute settlement. In particular, her thesis is on "Judicial Avoidance in Public International Law".
Before coming to Oxford, Bianca served as a Judicial Fellow at the International Court of Justice (ICJ) where she assisted H.E. Judge Hilary Charlesworth. She also worked as a Legal Assistant to UN International Law Commission (ILC) member Professor Keun-Gwan Lee, during the 75th Session of the ILC in Geneva.
Bianca is an Assistant Editor at Opinio Juris and has presented her research at conferences and workshops hosted by the Graduate Institute of Geneva, the University of Glasgow, the University of Helsinki, and the European Society of International Law (ESIL).
She holds an LL.M. in International Dispute Settlement (MIDS), a joint program of the University of Geneva and the Graduate Institute of Geneva. Bianca also earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) and a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Business Economics from the University of the Philippines.
Bianca is a Philippine bar-qualified lawyer with over two years of professional experience in the field of international dispute settlement, public international law, litigation, and alternative dispute resolution. Before pursuing her LL.M., Bianca worked as a Staff Lawyer at a boutique public international law firm in London and as a dispute settlement intern at the Legal Affairs Division of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in Geneva. In the Philippines, she practiced as an Associate in SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan, and worked as a researcher in multiple NGOs, academia and the Senate of the Republic of the Philippines.
