Biography

Özgür Arıkan is a Marie Curie Postdoctoral Research Fellow based in the Law Faculty. Özgür is currently working on the one-year project "Analysis of Whether the Legal Status of Slaves in Roman Law Provides a Framework for Resolution of the Patent Ownership of AI-generated Inventions."

Özgür holds Ph.D. and LL.M. degrees from the University of Manchester and an LL.B. from Istanbul University. His doctoral research focused on the expansion of trademark protection under the double identity rule and its impact on parallel importation within the EU. It has been published as a book titled "Trade Mark Rights and Parallel Importation in the European Union" in Turkey.

Özgür has taught courses across all areas of intellectual property law at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and Roman law at an undergraduate level.
