Biography

Semir Dzebo is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies (CSLS), Law Faculty, working on the HuRiEE project since September 2025. He completed his PhD in Political Science at Central European University (CEU) in Vienna in May 2025, where his dissertation examined individual preferences toward territorial politics in modern states.

Working on the HuRiEE project, Semir devises methods to measure human rights consciousness and examines its patterns across Hungary, Romania, Poland, and Ukraine. His research investigates how individuals in these diverse political contexts, ranging from democratic backsliding to open conflict, understand and engage with human rights claims. Through large-scale survey research and comparative analysis, he explores the mobilization potential of human rights consciousness under varying conditions of state authority and legitimacy.

Beyond his work on human rights mobilization, Semir's research also examines separatism in public opinion and populism in political discourse and its consequences.
