Research Assistant - Dicey + 100

Professors Andrew Dickinson, Timothy Endicott and Wolfgang Ernst are looking for a
Research Assistant to help with a follow-up publication based on papers presented at
the Dicey + 100 event in early October 2022.

The Research Assistant will assist with collating and editing the papers from the Dicey +
100 event, which are intended to be published as an edited collection or a journal special
issue.

Tasks for the Research Assistant will be include helping liaise with authors regarding drafts
and amendments, standardising referencing and publication style across all papers, and
checking for grammar and reference errors.

 

Duration and hours

Working hours: a total of up to 45 hours across the duration of the project, to be agreed

with the Supervisor.

Start date: 9 January 2023

Date by which the work must be completed: 31 March 2023

 

Reporting

The Research Assistant will report to Professor Andrew Dickinson.


Requirements

  • A good understanding of the field of public laws or the conflict of laws is desirable.
  • Experience of the following software/applications is desirable: Excel, Word, Powerpoint.
  • Experience of law referencing systems is desirable.
  • Experience in editing multi-author works for publication is desirable.
  • The work can be done in any place in the UK where you have access to a good library and
    internet. Meetings with the Pl/team members will be held in Oxford, or online if
    meeting in-person is not possible.

 

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to current graduate students in the Law Faculty. It is expected that

the work will be undertaken in the UK.

 

Rate of Pay

The work will be paid at £16.07 per hour (which equates to University Grade 6, point 1), on

the basis of completed and approved timesheets, which must be submitted to payroll@law.ox.ac.uk by the end of each calendar month for payment on the last working day of the following month.

In addition, annual leave will be assumed to be taken in the month in which it was accrued.

This opportunity is funded by the Law Faculty Research Support Fund.

Guidelines for Faculty members, line managers and students

Work must not commence without a letter of engagement or variable hours contract and a right to work check having been carried out by the Faculty Personnel Officer.

Full-time graduate students in the Faculty of Law may work up to 8 hours per week, or a common sense average across the year, regardless of the type of work.

Students may not work as Research Assistants for their own supervisor without the approval of the Associate Dean for Graduate Students.
