Research Assistant in International Tax Governance

Professors Tsilly Dagan and John Vella are looking for a research assistant to support a workshop on international tax governance at Oxford on October 18th-19th 2023.
Tasks for the Research Assistant will include taking notes on the proceedings of the workshop and editing the notes afterwards into a detailed transcript of the workshop for the purposes of helping produce a report.
Duration and hours
Working hours: a total of up to 20 hours across the duration of the project, to be agreed with the project supervisor (12 hours allocated to attending the workshop, including a brief preparation meeting the week prior, 8 hours allocated to editing and finalising the transcript for the report).
Start date: October 12th 2023
Date by which the work must be completed: October 30th 2023
For a limited time, the working hours for this project will entail the Research Assistant working more than 8 hours per week. Therefore, unless exempt from the Law Faculty’s restrictions on weekly hours, the Research Assistant must ensure that they are able to undertake this work without exceeding a reasonable average of 8 hours per week across the academic year and across all projects.
Reporting
The Research Assistant(s) will report to Professor Tsilly Dagan.
Requirements
- Good note-taking skills are essential.
- A good understanding of international tax law and governance is desirable.
- Experience of report writing for publication is desirable.
You must be present in-person in Oxford for the duration of the workshop on both October 18th (2pm-8pm at Harris Manchester College) and October 19th (9am-2pm at the Saïd Business School) 2023. Your normal place of work for work carried out before and after the workshop will be the St Cross Building or the Manor Road Building, Manor Road. However, provided you have the agreement of your PI/Supervisor, and a suitable space to work (including library access if required), it may be possible to undertake the work remotely, which could be anywhere in the UK.

Eligibility
This opportunity is open to current graduate students in the Faculty of Law.
It is expected that the work will be undertaken in the UK.
Rate of Pay
The work will be paid at £17.03 per hour, which equates to University Grade 6, point 1, on the basis of completed and approved timesheets, which must be submitted to payroll@law.ox.ac.uk by the last Friday of each calendar month for payment on the last working day of the following month.
In addition, paid annual leave will be assumed to be taken in the month in which it was accrued.
