This award provides funding for four years to outstanding, internationally-recognised mid-career to senior researchers currently employed outside the United Kingdom. The goal of this programme is to strengthen the UK research base in the humanities and social sciences through international partnerships, while fostering the host institution's research goals and strategies. The international researcher must have either permanent employment (on a part- or full-time basis), or hold a fixed-term position for the full duration of the Global Professorship. They must also have the ability to undertake a long-term secondment or employment at the UK host institution. The costs of the first three years will be covered by the British Academy, with the final year being funded by the UK host institution.

Full guidelines are available on the British Academy website.
