Balliol College proposes, if a suitable candidate applies, to appoint a stipendiary 8‑hour Lecturer in Administrative Law and Constitutional Law for Hilary Term and Trinity Term 2026 to cover a period of sabbatical leave. It carries with it no expectation of renewal.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach 8 hours per week on average during term time. The person appointed will receive a stipend of £22,540 p.a. pro rata (£15,027 for the two terms). In addition, the Lecturer will be entitled to certain Senior Common Room rights, and will have access to a shared teaching room in College.

The Lecturer will provide tutorials and revision classes in Administrative Law and Constitutional Law. Details of this course can be found in the Faculty handbook available at: https://www.law.ox.ac.uk/content/options-page/ba-jurisprudence-options.

The Lecturer will also be expected to assist with the administration of Law in Balliol (such as the setting and marking of college examinations at the start, and report meetings at the end, of term), and with the pastoral care of students.

Applications containing a CV, a statement of teaching experience, and the names of two academic referees should be sent to college.office@balliol.ox.ac.uk by 12 noon on Friday 5 December 2025. References will be taken up for shortlisted candidates; it would be helpful if at least one referee is able to comment on the candidate’s teaching experience and abilities. It is expected that interviews will be on Monday 15 December 2025.

Prospective applicants may contact Dr Hasan Dindjer, Tutor in Law (hasan.dindjer@balliol.ox.ac.uk), or the Senior Tutor, Dr Nicola Trott (senior.tutor@balliol.ox.ac.uk), for more details.
