Blog Editors x 2, Family and Medical Law

The Family and Medical Law Research Group would like to appoint two blog editors to support the group’s development of its content on the Law Faculty website. The two blog editors would work together to facilitate and support the creation of content for the website, including organising to record podcasts and videos, uploading them, and linking them to Twitter.

Tasks for the blog editors will be:

  • Work with the Family and Medical Law Research Group Chair on developing content ideas.
  • Produce short videos and podcasts for Family and Medical Law Research Group members and upload to the subsite.
  • Edit the Medical and Family law blog.
  • Run the Medical and Family law twitter feed (and link the resources / subsite to it more actively).

 

Duration and hours

Working hours: a total of 100 hours for each RA over 12 months

Start date: 5th June 2023

Date by which the work must be completed: 30th April 2024

 

Reporting

The blog editors will report to Professor Imogen Goold.

 

Requirements

  • A good understanding of the field of medical law is essential
  • A knowledge of medical ethics is desirable.
  • Good spreadsheet (Excel) skills are desirable.
  • Basic website skills (especially using Drupal) are desirable (but training can be offered)

The work can be done in any place in the UK where you have access to a good library and internet Meetings with the PI and team members can be held either in-person in Oxford or held online.

 

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to current graduate students in the Faculty of Law and the hours are in line with the restrictions on working hours for students within the Law Faculty.

It is expected that the work will be undertaken in the UK. 

 

Rate of Pay

The work will be paid at £17.02 per hour (including the exceptional non-consolidated uplift for 2022-23), which equates to University Grade 6, point 1, on the basis of completed and approved timesheets, which must be submitted to payroll@law.ox.ac.uk by the last Friday of each calendar month for payment on the last working day of the following month.

In addition, paid annual leave will be assumed to be taken in the month in which it was accrued.

 

Funding

This opportunity is funded by a Faculty Internet Engagement Fund award (FIEF2223-08). The role is advertised within the terms of our Blog Editor scheme.

Guidelines for Faculty members, line managers and students

Work must not commence without a letter of engagement or variable hours contract and a right to work check having been carried out by the Faculty Personnel Officer.

Graduate student engagement opportunities in the Faculty of Law usually fall into one of three categories: Research AssistantGraduate Teaching Assistant; or Blog Editor

Full-time graduate students in the Faculty of Law may work up to 8 hours per week, or a common sense average across the year, regardless of the type of work.

Students may not work for their own supervisor without the approval of the Associate Dean for Graduate Students.

Any queries regarding the eligibility of a particular student should be directed to Geraldine Malloy in the Faculty Office.

It is expected that the work will be undertaken in the UK.
