Sandy Steel appointed as an Adviser to the American Law Institute’s Principles of Civil Liability for Artificial Intelligence project

Sandy Steel, Professor of Law and Philosophy of Law, has been appointed as an Adviser to the American Law Institute’s Principles of Civil Liability for Artificial Intelligence project. The project is being led by Mark Geistfeld (NYU) and Ketan Ramakrishnan (Yale).

This project seeks to identify a set of principles, grounded in existing common-law tort doctrines, for assigning responsibility for harm caused by artificial intelligence systems. The project aims to help courts, regulators, and technologists understand the legal implications of artificial intelligence to help guide decision-making and provide clarity for all parties.
