Professor Sandra Fredman is looking for a suitably qualified graduate student to help with the Oxford Human Rights Hub as a Research Assistant.

The Oxford Human Rights Hub (OxHRH) brings together academics, practitioners, and policy-makers from across the globe to advance the understanding and protection of human rights and equality. Through the vigorous exchange of ideas and resources, we strive to facilitate a better understanding of human rights principles, to develop new approaches to policy, and to influence the development of human rights law and practice.

The Research Assistant will assist with communications strategies on the OxHRH website and social media platforms.

Duration and hours
Total number of hours of work available: variable (expected: 2-3 hours a week)

Start date: 5 February 2022

Date by which the work must be completed: 31 July 2022

Reporting
The Research Assistant will report to Sandra Fredman.

Requirements

  • A strong understanding of comparative equality, discrimination and human rights law is essential
  • Strong editorial skills 
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong research skills
  • Good admin, IT and social media skills are essential.
  • The work can be done in any place where you have access to a good library

Eligibility
This position is open to current graduate research students in the Law Faculty or and the hours are in line with the restrictions on working hours for students.  It is expected that the work will be undertaken in the UK.

Rate of Pay
Pay will be at the standard research assistant rate of £15.60 per hour (based on Grade 6 point 1) plus holiday pay of £2.67 per hour worked (= total of £18.27/hour).

Funding
This position is funded by a research grant from the British Academy.
