Research Assistant, Oxford Human Rights Hub

Professor Sandra Fredman is looking for a Research Assistant to help with the Oxford Human Rights Hub. The Research Assistant will assist with communications strategies on the OxHRH website and social media platforms.

The Oxford Human Rights Hub (OxHRH) brings together academics, practitioners, and policy-makers from across the globe to advance the understanding and protection of human rights and equality. Through the vigorous exchange of ideas and resources, we strive to facilitate a better understanding of human rights principles, to develop new approaches to policy, and to influence the development of human rights law and practice.

Duration and hours
Total number of hours of work available: variable (expected average of 2-3 hours a week)

Start date: 6 May 2022

Date by which the work must be completed: Work is completed on a rolling basis as OxHRH outputs are published on a rolling basis. Expected end-date is 30 June 2023.

Reporting
The Research Assistant will report to Sandra Fredman. 
 
Requirements
• A strong understanding of comparative equality, discrimination and human rights law is essential
• Strong editorial skills  
• Good communication skills 
• Strong research skills 
• Good admin, IT and social media skills are essential.
• The work can be done in any place where you have access to a good library


Eligibility
This position is open to current graduate students in the Law Faculty and the hours are in line with the restrictions on working hours for students.  It is expected that the work will be undertaken in the UK.

Rate of Pay
More than 12 weeks (variable hours contract): This will be paid at the standard research assistant rate of £15.60 per hour (based on Grade 6 point 1)  plus holiday pay of £2.67 per hour worked (= total of £18.27/hour).

Funding
This position is funded by a research grant from the British Academy.
