On 29 - 30 June 2015 the Oxford Intellectual Property Research Centre hosted a roundtable of thirty trade mark scholars from the UK and Europe, the United States, and Australia and New Zealand to discuss the construction of the consumer in trade mark law. The roundtable, which is an annual event first convened by Professors Graeme Dinwoodie and Mark Janis in 2008, was the first to take place outside the United States. Follow-up events on the the concept of the consumer in trade mark law are being planned with judges and legal practitioners in the United Kingdom.
