The Law Faculty is delighted to announce the appointment of Justice Catherine (Kate) O’Regan as the inaugural Director of the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights. Kate has had a distinguished career as a scholar, practitioner and judge, including a fifteen-year term of office as a judge of the Constitutional Court of South Africa. She was appointed to the first bench of the Court by President Mandela in 1994, and contributed to the Court’s jurisprudence in its formative years. Kate has also served on a range of international adjudicative bodies, including as chair of the UN Internal Justice Council and President of the IMF Administrative Tribunal. We look forward to welcoming Kate to Oxford and working with her on the development of the new Institute.
