Intermediation and Beyond Book Launch

This book, the result of a project run by the Commercial Law Centre at Harris Manchester College, was launched on 27th February 2019 at the offices of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in London.

After an introduction by Andrew Shutter from Cleary Gottlieb, the book was introduced by various participants. Professor Louise Gullifer, University of Oxford, described the genesis of the book. Christopher Twemlow, Euroclear UK and Ireland addressed its importance in relation to infrastructure institutions.
Professor Roy Goode, University of Oxford discussed its academic significance and Guy Morton, formerly of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, talked about it in relation to legal practice. All agreed that, although the book answers some difficult questions, it also raises new ones, and is an important contribution to the debate over how securities should be held in today’s and tomorrow’s markets.
