Nathalia Samhil Gonzalez Gutierrez
Biography
Nathalia Samhil Gonzalez Gutierrez is a current researcher at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies. Her research currently focuses on the norms and governance of fact-checking, and digital rights, including in relation to the Digital Services Act (DSA).
She has previously been the Alastair McBain Scholar for Human Rights at Mansfield College, where her research examined freedom of expression and association and the right to protest of non-citizens under the European Court of Human Rights' case law.
She was the 2024 recipient of the Bonavero Institute's Research Fellowship, where she worked with the NGO Dejusticia in developing a legally justiciable, and universal right to care in Colombia.
She holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science from University College London (UCL). She graduated with Dean's List honours and was short-listed for Faculty of Historical and Social Sciences medal for academic excellence for her research on transitional justice and economic violence in the context of Venezuela.
Her research interests include protest, social movement theory, feminist theory, and disinformation in digital spaces.
