Paolo Andrich
Biography
Paolo Andrich is a UKRI Policy Fellow at the Centre for Criminology and Home Office.
As part of this fellowship, Paolo will investigate the effectiveness of crime control police activities in the United Kingdom using statistical and machine learning methods.
He previously worked in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford, where he developed probabilistic models with the goal of equipping healthcare providers and decision-makers with tools to better prepare for future health emergencies. His most recent project focused on the impact of climate shocks on sexual violence vulnerability in sub-Saharan Africa.
Prior to this appointment, Paolo worked as a data scientist at the World Food Programme, where he supported the humanitarian crisis preparedness efforts of UN agencies and international NGOs.
He is particularly interested in the application of Bayesian statistical approaches and causal reasoning to inform social and public policy.
