Associate editor(s) for the Oxford Business Law Blog
Deadline date: Wednesday 22 January 2020
The Oxford Business Law Blog (OBLB) was launched in March 2016 as part of the Oxford Business Law Hub. Since its launch the OBLB has grown quickly, its high quality and cutting edge content rapidly attracting a wide readership. Somewhere between 5,000 and 8,000 readers visit the blog each week.
The OBLB is run by a team of academic editors (Luca Enriques, Horst Eidenmüller (currently on sabbatical), Kristin van Zwieten, Genevieve Helleringer, along with three external editors, Professor Georg Ringe, Professor Umakanth Varottil, and Professor Andreas Engert), and postgraduate associate editors. One to two new associate editors are needed to join this team.
Duration and hours
Work is to start as soon as possible and will run until December 2020, with the possibility of renewal. There will be a three-month probation period.
The hours are expected to be a maximum of four per week, but will vary from week to week. The research assistant(s) will need to be based in Oxford during term time.
Reporting
The post will report to Luca Enriques, Kristin van Zwieten, and Genevieve Helleringer.
Requirements
The core duties of OBLB associate editors are:
soliciting blog content and corresponding with authors;
reviewing and editing content;
publishing content;
managing the OBLB’s social media presence.
Associate editors are also involved in developing OBLB strategy, for example around website design, building our readership base, etc.
In the course of performing these duties associate editors enjoy many opportunities to interact with leading scholars in business law-related fields, and to develop a suite of editorial and communication skills.
Applicants should have a background in law, preferably corporate or commercial law. They must also have excellent (English) writing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to speedily identify and correct errors when editing content. Associate editors work collaboratively with each other and the OBLB’s academic editors, so the ability to work effectively in a team is also essential.
Experience of using Drupal or some other Content Management Systems would be an advantage but is not crucial as training will be available.
