Associate Editors for the Oxford Business Law Blog

The Oxford Business Law Blog (OBLB) was launched in March 2016 as part of the Oxford Business Law Hub. Since its launch the OBLB has grown quickly, its high quality and cutting edge content rapidly attracting a wide readership. Over 1,000 readers visit the blog each day.
The OBLB is run by a team of academic editors (Luca Enriques, Horst Eidenmüller, Kristin van Zwieten, Genevieve Helleringer, along with three external editors, Professor Georg Ringe, Professor Umakanth Varottil, and Professor Andreas Engert), and postgraduate associate editors. One to two new associate editors are needed to join this team
Duration and hours
Total number of hours of work available: Approximately 240 hours
Start date: As soon as possible
Date by which the work must be completed: 31 December 2021
Reporting
The post will report to Luca Enriques, Kristin van Zwieten, Genevieve Helleringer, and Horst Eidenmüller.
Requirements
The core duties of OBLB associate editors are:
- soliciting blog content and corresponding with authors;
- reviewing and editing content;
- publishing content;
- managing the OBLB’s social media presence.
Associate editors are also involved in developing OBLB strategy, for example around website design, building our readership base, etc.
In the course of performing these duties associate editors enjoy many opportunities to interact with leading scholars in business law-related fields, and to develop a suite of editorial and communication skills.
Applicants should have a background in law, preferably corporate or commercial law. They must also have excellent (English) writing skills, close attention to detail, and the ability to speedily identify and correct errors when editing content. Associate editors work collaboratively with each other and the OBLB’s academic editors, so the ability to work effectively in a team is also essential.
Experience of using Drupal or some other Content Management Systems would be an advantage but is not crucial as training will be available.
Eligibility
This position is open to current graduate research students in the Law Faculty and the hours are in line with the restrictions on working hours for students. It is expected that the work will be undertaken in the UK.
Rate of Pay
More than 12 weeks (variable hours contract): This will be paid at the standard research assistant rate of £15.37 per hour (based on Grade 6 point 1) plus holiday pay of £2.63 per hour worked (= total of £18.00/hour).
