Beyond Boundaries: The Regulation of Medicines and Medical Devices in the UK, the EU, and the USA
Dr Farrah Raza and Professor Jane Kaye
The World Health Organization estimates that there are over 2 million different kinds of medical devices. Recent regulatory developments have raised questions about patient safety and well-being. Our closed workshop brings together lawyers, clinicians, and industry leaders to explore how medicines, medical devices, and digital healthcare technologies are regulated across the UK, Germany, and USA. Drawing on Professor Jalan’s (UCL /Royal Free Hospital) leading innovations in the field of liver disease, including his liver dialysis device, we will examine challenges in clinical practice and regulatory differences across jurisdictions to inform both the legal and policy debates in this rapidly developing context.
