Why do regulators hesitate to trust the public despite evidence that voluntary compliance is more effective than heavy-handed enforcement? What are the conditions under which trust based approaches succeed?

We're so pleased to announce the next session of the Oxford Tax Law and Policy Discussion Group, where we will be hosting Professor Yuval Feldman to address these questions. Professor Feldman is the Mori Lazarof Professor of Legal Research at Bar-Ilan University, Faculty of Law, and the talk will draw from his forthcoming book "Can the Public Be Trusted? The Promise and Perils of Voluntary Compliance" (CUP, 2025).

This session will be held online via Zoom. Register here for the session.
