In Conversation with Former Chief Justice of Bangladesh Syed Refaat Ahmed

Group discussion with guest speaker, Syed Refaat Ahmed, who was appointed as the 25th Chief Justice of Bangladesh in the aftermath of the 2024 July Uprising and during the crucial transitional period of the Interim Government. During the event, he will discuss his decades of experience in judicial leadership, international legal scholarship, human rights advocacy, as well as crucial insights from working in a prominent role during the Interim Government. We will also discuss the prospects for long term judicial and political reform in Bangladesh and questions about how to re-establish the independence of the judiciary and whether there is need for further constitutional reforms in the country.
