Filmed over ten years at the Bellevue Program for Survivors of Torture, this intimate documentary, 'Transcendence: Journey of Hope and Healing' — the first of its kind — traces the healing journeys of four asylees who arrive in the U.S. seeking refuge. We follow a Tibetan nun, Chadian human rights advocate, Jamaican gay man, and a survivor of Sierra Leone’s civil war as they work with a team of care partners to overcome unimaginable cruelty, rebuild their lives, and find the strength to speak out against those who terrorized communities in the countries they once called home.
