Heidi M. Hurd, Ross and Helen Workman Chair in Law and Co-Director of the Program in Law and Philosophy at the University of Illinois College of Law, presents the first paper of Hilary Term 2024, "Should We Forgive Our Debtors?".

This presentation draws on a manuscript under contract to OUP on the moral underpinnings of bankruptcy relief, entitled The Virtue of Bankruptcy, co-authored by Professor Hurd and Ralph Brubaker. For this seminar Professor Hurd will discuss two chapters of the forthcoming book where the authors sketch and offer a normative defense of their positive theory of debt relief.

This seminar takes place in the Arthur Goodhart Seminar Room, University College, at 5:00pm on Thursday January 18.

The Room is located in Logic Lane and can be accessed from High St. or Merton St. without having to go through the main entrance to Univ College.

This event is open to anyone. No registration needed.

Pre-reading is desirable and strongly suggested, but not a requirement to attend.
