In our recent book ‘Prior Fault Criminalization’, we built a model of prior fault, informed by empirical studies of intoxicated mistake making. In this talk, we provide an outline of those studies and discuss how data were used to assist in the theorising of prior fault within the criminal law. We will also set out plans for follow-on empirical studies, where we are keen to hear comments and suggestions from the discussion group.

Note: The discussion group will be held at Spooner 2, located inside the Sacher Building in New College. On reaching the Lodge on Holywell Street, please report to the porters, and they will direct you to the venue.
