In January 2026, the UK Department for Business and Trade launched its landmark consultation, "Refining our competition regime." This consultation, which runs until 31 March 2026, represents a pivotal shift in the UK’s post-Brexit regulatory landscape, aiming to align the CMA more closely with the government’s "Growth Agenda"

As the UK government seeks to cement the nation's status as best jurisdiction for investment, the Department for Business and Trade has proposed the most significant legislative refinements to our competition regime in a decade. This roundtable brings together regulators, experts and industry leaders to debate the consultation. We will explore the transition from the independent "Panel" model to a CMA Board-led decision-making structure, the move toward a streamlined "single-phase" markets tool, and the implications of the new "adverse effect on consumers" test. Join us to discuss whether these reforms strike the right balance between political accountability and regulatory independence.

On 10 March 2026, the CCLP, in collaboration with BIICL will host a Round Table Discussion on The Government’s Consultation on Refining the UK's Competition Regime.

The event will take place in London.

Participation is by invitation only.
