Merton College awards three graduate Law scholarships annually.
The Barnett Bequest provides funding for any of the Faculty of Law’s graduate degrees and is open to UK applicants only. The award is of £7,500 and is of one year's duration.
The Barton Scholarship provides funding for the BCL and is open to British applicants only. The award is of £5,000 and is of one year's duration.
Two Merton Lawyers’ BCL Scholarships, funded jointly with the Law Faculty, provide funding for the BCL and are open to Home, EU and overseas applicants.
There is no college-specific application process for either of these scholarships. Applicants should apply to Oxford University in the normal way, naming Merton College as their first choice college. The applications of all eligible candidates will automatically be considered. If you are offered a scholarship at Merton College you will also be offered a place at Merton College in order to take up the award, and this will take the place of any earlier college offer you may have received.
