The Oxford Centre for Socio-Legal Studies is delighted to announce its seminar series for Michaelmas Term 2025.
This term’s programme brings together scholars from around the world to explore a rich variety of socio-legal themes — from populist lawmaking and legal mythologies to climate law, war crimes accountability, and the role of technology in dispute resolution. The seminars are convened by Professor Fernanda Pirie and will take place on Mondays from 11:30 am – 1:00 pm in Seminar Room G at the Manor Road Building (except week 2). Attendees joining us in person are warmly invited to stay for an informal lunch afterwards. The seminars can also be joined online.
A particular highlight this term is the Astor Lecture 2025 delivered by Professor Michele Moody-Adams (Columbia University) on the topic “Deep Trust, Political Hope, and the Future of Democracy”. This special lecture will take place on Thursday 23 October 2025 (12:00–13:30) in the Manor Road Building Lecture Theatre.
