On April 4th and 5th, 2025, twenty researchers, from the fields of economic history, numismatics and Roman Law met at All Souls College for an interdisciplinary workshop on 'Money in Roman Law'.

Talks explored the relationship between the monetarisation of Roman society and the development of Roman law.

The conference papers will be published in an edited volume that is intended to be a reference point for Roman lawyers and scholars in other disciplines interested in all aspects of the historical relationship between law and money, particularly in the areas of public regulation, the monetarisation of Roman legal institutions, finance, and the execution of cashless payments.
