Professor Horst Eidenmüller to serve on ECGI Appointment Committee
Associated people
Professor Horst Eidenmüller has been appointed as a member of the Research Member (Appointments) Committee of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI). The ECGI is a premier global network for scientific research on corporate governance. Professor Eidenmüller will serve on the committee alongside distinguished colleagues from the fields of law and finance, including the Committee Chair, Professor Mariana Pargendler from Harvard Law School.
This appointment represents a significant role within the Institute’s governance structure. The committee functions as a vital “gatekeeper” for the ECGI, tasked with upholding the Institute’s independence and research quality. Unlike standard peer review bodies that evaluate specific outputs, this committee is responsible for “peer reviewing the researchers”, evaluating applications and nominations to select the top-level scholars who will join the ECGI as Research Members.
These Research Members are fundamental to the organization, holding residual control of the Institute and driving its research agenda. The committee is deliberately composed of only four members—two from Finance and two from Law, split between US and non-US based scholars—highlighting the select nature of the group. Professor Eidenmüller will participate in the biannual deliberation of applications, with the next round of appointments scheduled to be announced at the end of 2026.
