Professor Wolfgang Ernst honoured with Festschrift

On 11 July, Professor Wolfgang Ernst was presented with a liber amicorum, or Festschrift, titled The Indispensable Science. The volume was published to mark his 70th birthday.

The book brings together contributions from 90 colleagues across 12 countries, reflecting the breadth of Professor Ernst’s academic work and influence. Edited by Beate Gsell, Thomas Rüfner and Ulrike Babusiaux, it includes essays on Roman law, legal history, banking and monetary law, and a range of topics in German, Swiss and Anglo-American private law.

Published open access under a Creative Commons licence, the volume is available to read online. Like Professor Ernst’s own work, it is marked by a wide range of methods, topics and legal traditions.
