Oxford University Innovation brings Oxford ideas to life, working with University researchers and the IP they generate in a very practical way. OUI operates at scale, managing and commercialising around 400 invention disclosures each year, a portfolio of 2800 patents and applications protecting University patentable IP, as well as commercialising copyright and other forms of IP. In 2016 OUI reported total revenues of £22.6M, returned £9.6M to the University and its researchers, created 21 spinouts and signed 134 technology licences.

Dr Mairi Gibbs is Head of Operations at OUI and will talk about

-          IP from the perspective of a natural scientist

-          Why the University has Oxford University Innovation and how University IP is managed

-          Examples of successful projects
