The continued evolution of the Internet and China’s reform trajectory are posing challenges for China’s personal data protection regime. In this lecture, Liu Deliang will address the current situation and issues of personal information protection, the related legal and regulatory framework, the current discussions in academic, legal and policy circles, and legislative measures for the foreseeable future.

 

Professor Liu Deliang is Professor at Beijing Normal University, Chief Researcher at the Asia-Pacific Institute for Cyberlaw Studies and Researcher at the Peking University Institute for Internet Law. He has published extensively on issues pertaining to data protection, privacy and new media, and has served on many advisory posts for government departments and media associations.
