Please join us for this event with Dr Raffael Fasel, during which he will present a chapter from his book project on 'The Constitution's Animals: Towards a Sentience-based Constitutionalism', which he is co-authoring with Dr John Adenitire. The book explores how basic constitutional principles such as the rule of law and democracy would have to be rethought if constitutions took seriously the interests in life, liberty, and integrity that many sentient animals have. The chapter to be discussed challenges anthropocentric constitutionalism and makes the case for sentience-based constitutionalism.
