'The Challenges of Advocacy at the Bar in the 21st Century'

Mordan Hall, St Hugh's College, Thursday Week 6 (June 2) 5.30 - 6.45pm

Derek Wood will speak on the challenges of starting and maintaining a career at the Bar, focussing on the skills required of an advocate. He is a Bencher (and former Treasurer) of Middle Temple, and served for over a decade as the Principal of St Hugh's College, Oxford. He is presently Director of Advocacy in the Middle Temple and Chair of the Governors of the Inns of Court College of Advocacy. He has advised extensively on Bar recruitment and training and has an unrivalled knowledge of the challenges involved in preparing for a career in advocacy. Of interest to all budding barristers from Oxford, whatever their School.
