Citation of Journal Articles

Where a journal uses consecutive numbers as well as years to identify each volume, give the year in round brackets followed by the volume number before the journal abbreviation and the page at which the article starts.

e.g. 1 Alison L Young, ‘In Defence of Due Deference’ (2009) 72 MLR 554.

 

If citing a journal which only uses a year to identify its volumes, put the year in square brackets before the rest of the citation

e.g. 1 Paul Craig, ‘Theory, “Pure Theory” and Values in Public Law’ [2005] PL 440.
