OUULJ 14th Edition Publication Evening
On 3 June 2025, the Oxford University Undergraduate Law Journal (OUULJ) hosted the 14th Edition's Publication Evening.
The event began with Prof. John Armour, Dean of the Oxford Law Faculty, delivering his Opening Address. He spoke about the development of the OUULJ and the importance of legal academia. This was followed by the Rt. Honourable Lords Burrows and Carnwath each delivering a paper, with Prof. Liz Fisher moderating. Lord Burrows delivered a paper titled 'Omissions in the Tort of Negligence: HXA, YXA and Tindall' (Handout, Speech). Lord Carnwath delivered a paper titled 'Net Zero—The Legal Context' (References).
We awarded the winners of our Private Law (Luisa Mayr & Isabella Preschern) and Public Law (Ydhan Naidoo) Article Prizes, as well as the winner of our Annual Essay Competition (Haseeb Haraj).
Saloni Sanwalka, our Editor-in-Chief, delivered her Closing Address. She highlighted that the OUULJ occupies a unique space for accessible legal academia in the United Kingdom, where student-run journals are rare, encouraging budding legal academics to take their first steps boldly.
Thank you to everyone who attended, the chambers and firms that have generously supported the OUULJ over the past year, our guests and the Oxford Law Faculty for the continued support.
