Alexander Hughes
Biography
Alex is a DPhil candidate at the Faculty of Law, supervised by Dr Shreya Atrey. His research focuses on freedom of expression in the context of sexual violence against women, and is generously funded by a Judge Meron Graduate Scholarship (Trinity College and Faculty of Law). Alex is also a Visiting Lecturer in criminal law at King's College London.
He was previously the Judicial Assistant to Lord Sales at the UK Supreme Court and then the Head Judicial Assistant to the President, Lord Reed. Alex previously worked at the European Court of Human Rights, first in the Office of the President and then as a Lawyer in the UK Division. He has also worked as a solicitor at Latham & Watkins LLP in London.
He holds an LLB (First Class, top of year) from the University of Southampton, the BCL (Distinction) from the University of Oxford and an LLM from NYU School of Law.
