Antonia Brillembourg

Antonia is an MSc student in Criminology and Criminal Justice at the Center for Criminology at Oxford. She previously completed her undergraduate degree at Amherst College in the US where she double majored in Political Science and Art History.  She has experience interning for the Bronx Defenders, the NY State Attorney General’s Civil Rights Bureau, and was a teaching assistant to an Inside-Out modeled course on Justice. She also has experience as a translator and intake volunteer for asylum seekers. She is currently a research intern with the Border Criminologies Research Center at Oxford. Her research interests lie in the role of AI and technology in court risk assessment tools, exploring community led alternatives to punishment, and prison conditions. Her master’s dissertation is a methodological contribution on prison quilts, arguing that quilting and needlework can be a criminological method for understanding the material, embodied, and transient dimensions of incarceration.
