Ayushi Vashisht
Biography
Ayushi Vashisht is a Dean's scholar at the Faculty of Law and a DPhil (PhD) candidate.Her research explores the evolving relationship between International Investment Law, International Human Rights Law, and International Environmental Law through the lens of investment treaty arbitration. She is also a Graduate Resident at the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights.
Ayushi currently serves as the Graduate Mooting Assistant at the Faculty of Law. She has twice been appointed as the DPhil Facilitator for the Vice Chancellor’s Colloquium on Climate Change (2023 and 2024), where she delivered lectures at Somerville College and Wadham College respectively. Ayushi holds a Bachelor of Laws from Army Institute of Law, Mohali, and a dual degree in law and economics from University of Hamburg and Erasmus University, Rotterdam under the Erasmus Mundus Association funded by the European Union, with a specialisation in Public International Law.
Prior to taking up doctoral studies at Oxford, she worked as an Assistant Professor at O.P Jindal Global University and also as a Visiting Faculty at the National Law School of India University, Bangalore where she taught courses on Legal Methods, Administrative Law, Conflict of Laws and Gender and Society. She has also served as a Teaching Assistant to Professor James Nedumpara and Justice Swatanter Kumar.
Ayushi is qualified to practise law in India and has professional experience as a legal counsel for India’s largest private sector bank, where she represented the bank before Debt Recovery Tribunals and other courts.
