Ece Gizay Ban

Ece is a DPhil in Law candidate at the University of Oxford and a member of St Edmund Hall. Her research focuses on competition policy in digital markets, examining the adequate applicable limiting principles and legal standards for addressing data and algorithm-driven abuses of market power.

She is a co-convenor of the Competition Law and Policy Discussion Group and has taught Competition Law & Policy for the BA in Jurisprudence and the MSc in Law and Finance; since 2023, she has taught FHS EU Law at St John’s College.

Ece holds an LLM from New York University and an LLB from Bilkent University. Prior to her DPhil, she was a research assistant at NYU School of Law, served as a judicial intern at the New York State Supreme Court, and worked in private legal practice.
