Flora de Castro Santana
Biography
Flora Santana is an MPhil candidate at the Center for Socio-Legal Studies, supervised by Prof Bettina Lange. Her research focuses on the mechanisms of participation in private institutions in Global Governance, particularly the Internet.
Prior to joining CSLS, Flora earned a Bachelor of Journalism and a Bachelor of Laws from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She has been a teaching assistant and a research assistant for courses such as Constitutional Law, Law, the State and Democracy, among others, during her Law degree. Additionally, she has been researching Internet Governance issues for more than 10 years and wrote both of her previous dissertations on the theme. She is also a licensed lawyer in Brazil.
Beyond her academic pursuits, she has also been working as a communicator and a policy advisor in digital governance and regulations for the last seven years. Before joining CSLS she was the Legal and Policy Coordinator of Sleeping Giants Brasil, a non-profit focused on information integrity and platform regulation in Brazil.
