Biography

Gabriel is pursuing an MPhil on the principles governing the discretion to award mandatory orders in judicial review. He previously read undergraduate law at Durham and the BCL at Oxford.

Gabriel previously worked on judicial reviews and civil claims against public authorities at Wilson Solicitors. Gabriel writes regularly in blogs, journals, and practitioners’ publications. He has been cited in parliamentary debates and publications, and by the High Court. He has also had assisted in projects on the duty of candour in judicial review, and changes to immigration-related legal challenges by the Illegal Migration Act 2023.

Gabriel has been an active public law commentator on Twitter/X (@finishedloading). He founded the Administrative Court Blog in 2021, where he frequently writes on contemporary public law issues.

Gabriel will commence traineeship (pupillage) at Matrix Chambers in London in October 2026.
